Implementasi Kearifan Lokal sebagai Modal Sosial dalam Pembangunan Berkelanjutan di Distrik Makbon
Abstract
This study aims to analyze the implementation of local wisdom as social capital in supporting sustainable development in Makbon District, Sorong Regency, West Papua. As a region rich in customary values, cultural practices, and traditional social structures, the Makbon community has social capital potential that can play an important role in the success of development programs, particularly related to environmental preservation and strengthening social cohesion. The research method used is a qualitative approach with data collection techniques through in-depth interviews, participatory observation, and documentation study. The research findings show that values such as sasi (resource management practice), customary deliberations, community solidarity, and the role of customary leaders are effective social capital in the management of natural resources and enhancing community participation. However, the implementation of local wisdom still faces challenges such as modernization, lack of policy support, and insufficient knowledge regeneration of traditional customs. This study concludes that strengthening local wisdom as social capital can enhance the effectiveness of sustainable development if integrated into local policies and community empowerment programs.
